The central government is giving scholarships to the students through various schemes with the aim of not avoiding the studies due to financial difficulties. One of them. This scholarship is very useful for those students who dream of climbing higher peaks but fail to fulfill their ambitions due to financial difficulties.

The Pradhan Mantri Uchhatar Shiksha Patrathan (PM-USP) Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University Students is a scheme of the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education.

The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to talented students from poor families to cover part of their daily expenses while pursuing higher studies.

A maximum of 82,000 new scholarships will be offered annually in colleges and universities for graduate/post graduate degrees, professional courses like medical and engineering.

Qualifications:
Candidates who want to be considered for this scholarship scheme should meet these eligibility criteria.

Candidates should have more than 80th percentile in the relevant discipline in class 12th in 10+2 pattern from the concerned board of examination. Scholarships are awarded to deserving students on the basis of Higher Secondary/ Class 12 board examination results.

Candidates should be doing regular degree courses.
Candidates should have pursued courses in colleges/institutions recognized by All India Council for Technical Education and concerned regulatory bodies.

Applicant’s gross family income should not exceed Rs.4,50,000 per annum.
At least 75% attendance should be sufficient if the candidate wants to renew the scholarship while studying every year along with securing at least 50% marks in the annual examination.
Applicant should have a bank account in their name.

Ineligible to apply:
These students are not eligible to apply for the scholarship scheme.

Students pursuing correspondence or distance mode or diploma courses.
Students who are already benefiting from other scholarship schemes including government scholarships, fee waiver and reimbursement schemes.
